Welcome Fall!

Please remember to get your flu shot! I got mine the first week of October. I will be closed from October 24-28 for scheduled 2011 Vacation. Thank you for making other arrangements this week:) Remember that Thanksgiving is coming up and I will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the Day After as scheduled Holidays.
On Halloween, we will be painting pumpkins so don't send your kids in nicer clothes that day.

Thank you for considering my day care home. This is a business to me and in order to assure good communication between parents and myself I have written a policy and enrollment with the terms of the care I provide. Please feel free to discuss any of this with me after working hours.

I will provide care and nurturing to children in a safe environment with planned activities for age-appropriate growth and development in accordance with state child care licensing rules.
Arrival/Pick-Up:

Do not allow your child to come into the day care unattended. Inform me of any event or activity from the night before that may affect the child’s behavior. Give any medicines directly to me with your completed medication authorization form.

Please come inside when you pick-up your child. Children will not be allowed to leave the facility without an adult escort. Unless other written arrangements are made, your child will be released only to you or other individuals named by you on the child’s enrollment form. No child will be released to anyone obviously under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Meals:

I provide a nutritious morning meal, a balanced lunch and an afternoon snack. If your child has any food allergies or special food needs, please explain this on the enrollment form. If your baby is on infant formula, you are responsible for supplying bottles and formula. I will serve whole milk to children between ages 1-2 if given at home. Milk and 100% Juice is served with meals and snacks. I strive to serve top-quality food with as little sugar as possible. Please, no candy or gum.

Breakfast is served at 8 am, Lunch is served at 11am, and afternoon snack is served at 3pm. I serve meals according to state compliance so if you bring your children at an odd time please make sure they have already eaten or can wait until the next meal/snack time.

Substitute Care:

Please have a back- up person in the event that I am not able to care for your child due to contagious illness or planned vacation. I will notify parents in far advance if I am taking any future vacation. If I have a contagious illness or my children have a contagious illness I will let you know as soon as possible. If I am ill, my husband Mike Gillan has been a terrific substitute. School-age children may also need advance alternate care plans for days of scheduled school closings if their full-day attendance would cause me to exceed my licensed capacity. I do not get paid for sick days and a discount will be given to full-time clients.

Discipline:

Normally talking to a child or placing them in a “thinking chair” away from others is sufficient. The child will be in a time-out for one minute per year of the child’s age. Children will not be allowed to harm others or themselves, or destroy property. Continued destructive behavior and non-compliance may result in immediate discharge from the facility. If a problem arises that is not easily corrected, I will discuss it with the parent and hopefully agree on the manner to correct the problem. I do not use physical punishment or ridicule.

Please note that all staff at this facility is mandated reporters of child abuse/neglect.

Health and Sickness:

Please inform me upon arrival if your child has become ill during the night or is not feeling well. I cannot take children who have a contagious disease or severe illness. If your child has a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit by mouth or 99 degrees Fahrenheit under the arm, they should remain at home. They must be free of fever for at least 12 hours without the aid of Tylenol or Motrin before returning. No exceptions! If your child has more than one abnormally loose stool (diarrhea) the child must be sent home until his symptoms have subsided.

If your child becomes ill while in my care, I will notify you immediately. In case of emergency, I will contact 911 and notify you as soon as possible. Please let me know of any chronic illness or disability so that a Parent’s Specialized Instructions for Infants and Toddlers form/plan can be made.

Required Forms:

State Licensing requires that Parents/guardians need to submit a completed enrollment form and verification of immunizations the first day a child attends. The preschool medical is due as soon as possible but no later than 30 days after first attendance. An authorization form completed by the parent or guardian is required when medication is to be given to a child. Parents or guardians must bring medicines (prescription and non-prescription) in the original container labeled with the child’s name and instructions for administration, including dosage. Non prescription medication includes and is not limited to: sunscreen, diaper ointment, Tylenol, etc. If there is a court order or other documentation affecting custody of your child, please provide a certified copy.

Admission Procedures:

Before a child is accepted to the facility I require a personal interview with the parents/guardians to discuss your child’s care. I will provide you with verbal daily updates at pick up time and written notes as needed. Please bring the following items for your child: All completed required admission forms, change or clothing, diapers if needed, formula or breast milk for infants, bottles if needed and any medication with completed authorization form. I will provide wipes at no charge.

Miscellaneous:

TB Test/Background check is on file for all staff.

Pertussis Vaccine is current for 2011-2012.

I will routinely wipe down and clean toys and playing surfaces with bleach water or Clorox Wipes.

I will wash all bedding and blankets a minimum 2 times per week or more as needed.

Termination Guidelines:

I will terminate our child care arrangements immediately for any of the following reasons (but not solely limited to):

• Failure to comply with the policies set forth in this contract.

• Destructive or hurtful behavior of child that persists even with parent cooperation in stopping the behavior.

• Non-Payment of childcare fees or late and/or recurring late payment of fees.

• Failure to show up for 3 days in a row without any communication.

• Failure to complete required forms.

• Inability to meet the child’s needs without additional staff.

• Blatant disrespect towards provider

• If parents knowingly bring their child ill.

These are paid holidays for which full payment is due. If a regularly scheduled day falls on a holiday, then that day is a paid holiday. Full payment is due even if your child is not present. For example: vacation, sick day, grandparents are in town, etc.

I will take up to 2 weeks (10 days) vacation a year. I will be paid 5 vacation days per year. Each day will be payable at the regular per day. Notice of termination of childcare requires a 2-week advance notice. You may terminate immediately by making payment for the following week. Chronic lateness without notification and non-payment are reasons for termination. As well, in the event that I am unable to accommodate you as a childcare provider any longer, I will give you at least 2 weeks notice.

If I receive a check that has been returned for NSF then you will be responsible for my bank’s fees associated with this transaction. If this happens twice then cash will be the only form of accepted payment.

I am an understanding care giver. If you are running late, please let me know. If there is continued tardiness without notification an overtime fee may be assessed to you at $5 per half hour, per child, rounded up to the nearest half hour.

My Home will be open from 7:00 AM 5:30 PM for children ages 6 weeks to 8 years.

~Licensing News!~

I am very excited to announce that as of July 13, 2011 I am pursuing a license from the state of Missouri for child care. It will be a very tedious and challenging time but I believe it will be the best option at assuring you and future parents of the top-notch care they are receiving here.

I will be sending home new forms to be filled out which are required by the State to be on file for each child prior to receiving my license. I appreciate your help in getting these new forms filled out and returned in a timely fashion.

A few things coming up ...we will have our annual egg hunt here at the day care on April 22nd. If the weather does not cooperate that day, then we will move it to the 21st or earlier as needed.

The City of Sparta is hosting an egg hunt at our new City Park on April 16th at 10 am. The City Park is located on Division Street.

I also have some availability right now if you know anyone looking for full time or part time childcare.

Second, we took turns placing the batter. Some of us decided to be supervisors.

We all then took a peek at the cookies as they were getting bigger in the oven.

Payment:
Payment is due on or previous to the first day of the week of care. A deposit of one week's care is required at enrollment. Deposit is fully refundable upon un-enrollment or for one week's fees. A two-week notice is required for un-enrollment. You may forgo a two week's notice and submit one week's fees instead. A receipt will be given for any payment. Please understand that I have limited availability and cannot "hold a spot" without deposit. Different payment times are acceptable if agreed upon between client and daycare provider.

Miscellaneous:
I need to have a complete change of clothing on hand for your child in case of an accident. If your child is in the midst of toilet training, I will need a small supply of training pants.
Each person is responsible for their own diapers. I will supply wipes at no extra charge. I use Hypoallergenic and Fragrance Free wipes.

Please, no candy or gum in my daycare home.
I am not a licensed caregiver.
I am currently First Aid/CPR certified.
I will routinely wipe down and clean toys and playing surfaces with bleach water or Clorox Wipes.

It's been a while-almost 5 months! What a crazy winter we had! Snow, snow and more snow!

Now that we are well into spring it's a good time to start fresh. Little by little I am going to start updating and redecorating the daycare area. I will start with some fresh paint and then a mural.

Just a reminder, I have a scheduled closing for Memorial Day, May 31st. I am also scheduled to be closed on Friday, June 25th.

Sadly, Brady is becoming a big boy and will be moving on to pre-school with his older brother Garrett on June 1st. We will miss you buddy! Have fun!

Summer will soon be here and to celebrate we are having a Welcome Summer Party on June 20th. All are invited to partake in a bouncy house and lots of food and drink. The party starts at 1pm so we hope to see you here on Father's Day.
